“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life - and travel - leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks - on your body or on your heart - are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.” — Anthony Bourdain

Look at the people. You tell me which ones are free. Free from debt. Anxiety. Stress. Fear. Failure. Indignity. Betrayal. How many wish they were born knowing what they know now? Ask yourself how many would do things the same way and how many would live their lives like me.

The First Time

In the previous few days of street luging, quad biking and bungee jumping I came across a quote that I is important for people to think about every now and then; “when was the last time you did something for the first time?”
We are so easily pulled into the monotony of our day to day routines that we can easily forget the excitement of doing something for the first time. It’s a different feeling of achievement when you don’t kill yourself, or better yet perform admirably in something foreign. Using your brain and body in ways you previously couldn’t imagine to conquer the unknown can remind us of how many things we are capable of if only we chose to extend ourselves.
A great man once said “For me, life is about continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, and to conquer.” I urge everybody to step outside of your known world and accept the challenge of doing something for the first time; no matter the outcome you’ve already achieved something great.

“The most dangerous risk of all - the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.”

Bungee jumping in Queenstown, NZ. Yea, that just happened. More gopro video to come soon!

Not a lot needs to be said about this clip… Thanks to a friend of a friend, Rosie, who took me out with her crew. 3 English, 1 Irish, 2 Estonians, 1 Canadian, 1 Aussie and a hell of a good time!

Homesick for the Places We Have Never Known…

Something wonderful happens when you book a one way ticket.  There is joyous sense of freedom and exhilaration, mixed with anxiety and nervous trepidation that can only come from the unforeseeable.  There is an additional bonus for me, a self-coined, and repeatedly verified “planner”, I afford myself the opportunity to go all Tyler Durden and just let go.  You’re not your job.  You’re not how much money you have in the bank.  You’re not the car you drive.  You’re not the contents of your wallet.  You’re not your fuckin’ khakis.

You are you.  The compilation of your experiences, interactions, victories and defeats amassed thus far in your life.  Everyone you meet is a mixed bag but everybody has the commonality that their experience have led them to the same place you find yourself in that moment.  Each person is searching to find something whether it be a spiritual awakening, a better version of themselves, a perfect picture, or maybe just a tasty pint.  And best of all, we are all day to day.  No plan, maybe just an outline.  Be to the airport in a month to go to the next adventure.  Now go meet some people and do some stuff; you got 30 days… tick tock.

Enlighten yourself

Change is not a bolt of lightning that arrives with a zap. It is a bridge built brick by brick, everyday, with sweat and humility and slips. It is hard work, and slow work, but it can be thrilling to watch it take shape.
